    Fee-Based Programs: Fee-Based Programs charge Program Fees, not UConn tuition. Program Fees will appear on students’ UConn fee bills, along with other UConn fees as listed on the program’s budget sheet. 

    Summer Field Ecology in South Africa
    Limpopo Province, South Africa
    This unique program offers students registered in NRE 3305 an opportunity to apply ecological principles in a real-world setting. After completing coursework at UConn during the spring semester—including background lectures on South African ecosystems, culture, and human rights—students travel to South Africa for an intensive field study experience. The summer component takes place at Entabeni Safari Conservancy in Limpopo Province, where students engage in hands-on activities related to ecology, conservation, and natural resource management, guided by experienced instructors from Honeyguide Tented Camp.

    Summer in Ghana
    Accra, Ghana
    This dynamic program offers students an introduction to Ghana’s growing Finance Technology (FinTech) and Supply Chain sectors, while providing a rich exploration of West African culture and history. Participants will gain firsthand insights into Ghanaian business practices and innovation by visiting and learning directly from local companies. Through cultural excursions and academic engagement, students will experience Ghana’s vibrant traditions and perspectives on success, development, and progress.

    Tuition-Based Program: Tuition-Based Programs charge in-state, New England Regional, and out-of-state UConn tuition rates based on students’ residency. Tuition charges will appear on students’ UConn fee bills, along with other UConn fees as listed on the program’s budget sheet. Students may pay housing through their UConn fee bill or directly to their host university depending on the program

    OTS: African Ecology and Conservation in South Africa
    Skukuza, South Africa
    The African Ecology and Conservation program immerses students in field research across South Africa’s diverse biomes. Traveling through national parks, reserves, and historic sites, students spend most of the semester in Kruger National Park, conducting hands-on ecological research under the mentorship of local and international experts. By designing their own projects, students contribute real data to conservation efforts while gaining valuable scientific and cultural insights. A highlight of the program is a three-night homestay in a rural community, offering students a deeper understanding of South African culture and society.

    Al Akhawayn University
    Ifrane, Morocco
    Located in Morocco’s scenic Middle Atlas Mountains, Al Akhawayn University offers students a global liberal arts education on a stunning, modern campus. Courses are taught in English and encourage academic exploration across a wide range of disciplines. With a vibrant residential life—where over 96% of students live on campus—and easy access to Morocco’s major cities, students enjoy an exciting blend of academic rigor, cultural immersion, and outdoor adventure in the peaceful town of Ifrane.

    Accra & Legon, Ghana
    Founded in 1948, the University of Ghana is the country’s premier institution of higher learning, known for its strong commitment to education, research, and national development. With a focus on innovation and global engagement, the University’s Strategic Plan (2014–2024) aims to enhance its impact both nationally and internationally. Students will experience a vibrant academic environment in Ghana’s dynamic and evolving higher education landscape.

Students pay the affiliate program directly for their fees, whereas other UConn fees will appear on students’ UConn fee bills as listed on the program’s budget sheet.     Semester at Sea
    Semester at Sea is a transformative study abroad experience that offers students the chance to travel to 10+ countries while earning a full semester of college credit. Unlike traditional programs, it combines rigorous academics with hands-on global learning, fostering a deep, authentic engagement with diverse cultures. Living and studying aboard a ship, students build a close-knit community while gaining the leadership skills, global perspective, and real-world experience that set them apart in their careers and beyond.

    SIT Study Abroad Morocco: Human Rights, Social Justice, and Cultural Transformation
    Rabat, Morocco
    This program examines the ongoing struggles for human rights and social justice in Morocco, shaped by the aftermath of the 2011 Arab Spring. Through academic study and field excursions across the country, students explore cultural transformations related to gender, individual freedoms, globalization, and socioeconomic change. Engaging with local activists, NGOs, and social enterprises, students gain firsthand insight into the forces driving both inequality and grassroots efforts for positive change.

    Finances are an integral part of the program selection and planning process. Research scholarships early to meet application deadlines and request feedback on essays from advisors and the Writing Center.

    Tso Lin Scholarship Fund for Advanced Studies in International Affairs
    The Tso Lin Scholarship Fund for Advanced Studies in International Affairs supports College of Liberal Arts and Sciences students who participate in an approved international program administered by Experiential Global Learning. Priority is given to students who demonstrate financial need. Students will be reviewed for eligibility through their Experiential Global Learning program application; no additional application is required.
