    Fee-Based Programs: Fee-Based Programs charge Program Fees, not UConn tuition. Program Fees will appear on students’ UConn fee bills, along with other UConn fees as listed on the program’s budget sheet. 

    Yonsei International Summer School
    Seoul, South Korea
    The Yonsei International Summer School (YISS) offers students the chance to immerse themselves in Korean and East Asian culture while studying in a global environment. Held in Seoul, this short-term program provides 4-week and 6-week courses across a wide range of subjects, with over 100 classes taught in English (except Korean language courses). Students can also participate in cultural activities like Taekwondo, Korean ceramics, folk music, calligraphy, and traditional dance, alongside excursions to museums, palaces, temples, and performances throughout the city.

    Tuition-Based Program: Tuition-Based Programs charge in-state, New England Regional, and out-of-state UConn tuition rates based on students’ residency. Tuition charges will appear on students’ UConn fee bills, along with other UConn fees as listed on the program’s budget sheet. Students may pay housing through their UConn fee bill or directly to their host university depending on the program

    Lisbon, Portugal
    The Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) is one of Europe’s leading universities and the top-ranked university in Portugal, consistently placing among the top 200 universities worldwide. Comprising 18 schools, faculties, and institutes, and 81 research units, ULisboa covers all fields of knowledge. Each year, its more than 400 degree programs welcome around 50,000 students, including over 9,000 international students. Located in the vibrant city of Lisbon, ULisboa offers a dynamic academic and cultural experience, supported by active student unions in each school and a commitment to excellence across disciplines.

    The University of Birmingham, a member of the prestigious Russell Group and a Universitas 21 exchange partner, is one of the United Kingdom’s leading institutions. Founded in 1900 as the first British university to receive a royal charter in the 20th century, it boasts a stunning 250-acre green campus, ranked among the top three campus environments nationally. Located just outside Birmingham’s vibrant city center, the university offers easy access to a major European hub known for its rich cultural, social, and sporting life.     The University of Essex is consistently ranked among the top ten universities in England for research quality, with many departments recognized as “outstanding” by international standards. Known for its strong focus on interdisciplinary studies, it offers more than 160 programs across the humanities, social sciences, law, natural sciences, and life sciences, including medicine. Of its 30,000 students, around 5,800 are international, contributing to a vibrant, global academic community. In the 2017 Shanghai Ranking, Heidelberg was ranked No. 42 worldwide and No. 1 in Germany, highlighting its reputation for academic excellence and innovation.

    DEREE – The American College of Greece, founded in 1875, is the oldest and largest independent American-sponsored institution in Europe. With a student population of over 2,900 and more than 1,000 courses offered annually, it is the only college in Athens with American accreditation. Located on a beautiful, wooded hillside in the suburb of Aghia Paraskevi, the campus features modern classrooms, a renowned library, and Olympic-standard athletic facilities. With over 85% of students being Greek, AIFS Abroad students have a unique opportunity to experience authentic Greek culture and build local friendships.

    Semester at Sea
    Semester at Sea is a transformative study abroad experience that offers students the chance to travel to 10+ countries while earning a full semester of college credit. Unlike traditional programs, it combines rigorous academics with hands-on global learning, fostering a deep, authentic engagement with diverse cultures. Living and studying aboard a ship, students build a close-knit community while gaining the leadership skills, global perspective, and real-world experience that set them apart in their careers and beyond.

    Finances are an integral part of the program selection and planning process. Research scholarships early to meet application deadlines and request feedback on essays from advisors and the Writing Center.

    The Tso Lin Scholarship Fund for Advanced Studies in International Affairs supports College of Liberal Arts and Sciences students who participate in an approved international program administered by Experiential Global Learning. Priority is given to students who demonstrate financial need. Students will be reviewed for eligibility through their Experiential Global Learning program application; no additional application is required.
