Tuition-Based Program: Tuition-Based Programs charge in-state, New England Regional, and out-of-state UConn tuition rates based on students’ residency. Tuition charges will appear on students’ UConn fee bills, along with other UConn fees as listed on the program’s budget sheet. Students may pay housing through their UConn fee bill or directly to their host university depending on the program
Charles University: East and Central European Studies in Prague
Prague, Czech Republic
The East and Central European Studies (ECES) Program at Charles University in Prague offers UConn students the opportunity to study in one of Europe’s most historic and picturesque cities. Ideal for those interested in East and Central European Studies or Czech history and culture, the program also includes courses in liberal arts fields such as art, economics, history, politics, psychology, and sociology. As one of Central Europe’s most prestigious universities, Charles University provides an enriching academic environment, with opportunities for independent research and connections with scholars in Prague.
Waseda University
Tokyo, Japan
Waseda University, one of Japan’s most prestigious institutions, offers students a unique opportunity to study in Tokyo, blending tradition with innovation. Founded in 1882, Waseda has grown into a leading university with over 50,000 students, including 4,500 international students from around 90 countries. Known for its commitment to global education and research, Waseda provides a dynamic learning environment at the forefront of Japanese academia. This exchange program is available for the academic year or spring semester due to Waseda’s academic calendar.
University of Birmingham

The University of Birmingham, a member of the prestigious Russell Group and a Universitas 21 exchange partner, offers students a world-class academic experience in the heart of England. Founded in 1900, it was the first British university to receive a royal charter in the 20th century. Its stunning 250-acre campus, ranked among the top three in the UK, provides a vibrant and supportive learning environment. Located just outside Birmingham’s city center, students have access to a dynamic cultural scene, excellent transport links, and an ideal base for exploring the UK and Europe.

Summer Internship in London
London, England
The Summer Internship in London program, in partnership with Anglo Educational Services (AES), offers students the chance to gain professional experience while earning academic credit in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. This eight-week program includes an unpaid internship of up to 20 hours per week with small to medium-sized companies, providing a hands-on learning environment. Students also take courses through AES, whose office is centrally located in Bloomsbury, and participate in a weekly work placement seminar. With close supervision and a structured learning agreement, students develop valuable skills and insights into the British workplace.
Yonsei International Summer School
Seoul, South Korea
The Yonsei International Summer School (YISS) offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Korean and East Asian culture while studying in a global academic setting. This short-term summer program provides 4-week or 6-week courses, with over 100 classes taught in English, except for Korean language courses. Students can also participate in cultural activities such as Taekwondo, Korean ceramics, traditional dance, and folk music. Located in Seoul, YISS allows students to explore historic sites, museums, and cultural performances, making it an enriching academic and cultural experience.
Direct-Bill Programs: Direct-Bill Programs charge students directly for their program costs. Students pay the affiliate program directly for their fees, whereas other UConn fees will appear on students’ UConn fee bills as listed on the program’s budget sheet. Be sure to review the program’s full costs on the provider’s own website. UConn is not responsible for those costs.
Semester at Sea
Semester at Sea offers a one-of-a-kind study abroad experience, combining academic coursework with immersive global travel. Unlike traditional programs, students visit 10+ countries while earning a full semester’s worth of credits from a world-class university. Life aboard the ship provides a dynamic, supportive community, while experiential learning opportunities connect classroom concepts to real-world experiences in each destination. This transformative journey enhances cultural awareness, leadership skills, and career prospects, equipping students with a global perspective to tackle future challenges.
AIFS Study Abroad in Athens: Semester or Academic Year

The AIFS Study Abroad program in Athens, Greece, offers students the chance to immerse themselves in a vibrant, historic city while studying at DEREE – The American College of Greece. Located in the scenic suburb of Aghia Paraskevi, the campus provides a dynamic learning environment with a diverse student body, including many Greek students, fostering cultural exchange and local connections. Whether spending a semester or academic year, students can explore Athens’ rich history, stunning landscapes, and modern energy while earning academic credit in a variety of subjects.
